Ideally, 3-6 months before you turn 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after. Starting early gives you time to understand your options without feeling rushed.
Original Medicare (Parts A & B) is the traditional federal program. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private insurers and often includes extra benefits like dental, vision, and hearing. Each has pros and cons depending on your needs, budget, and preferred doctors.
It depends on your situation. Original Medicare doesn't cover everything — you're responsible for deductibles, copays, and coinsurance. A Medigap plan can help cover those costs. We'll help you decide if it makes sense for your situation.
If you have coverage through your employer (or your spouse's employer), you may be able to delay Medicare Part B without penalty. However, this depends on the size of the employer. We'll help you understand how your situation affects your Medicare decisions.
